The GOD. DAMN. BATMAN.
So, yeah. Now this is an action game. Sure, it's not perfect - the controls (especially anything involving the L and R buttons) are terrible, and the camera gets in the way more often than I'd like, and evasion is a complete joke, and it has a tacked-on "RPG Lite" upgrade system that is both non-sensical and, like others, irrelevant by the end.
None of that matters. This is the best-feeling brawler I've ever played. Combat is a beautiful, graceful, furious thing, and stalking your prey from above is an incredible rush. The "Detective Mode" sounds like it would be a cheap gimmick, but is extremely well-done and definitely makes a strong partner to the action half of the game.
The challenge is decent - though you'll accidentally battarang the wrong thing many many times - but the main game is a tad on the short side, and the challenges aren't really worth doing. Though I say "play", you'll do just fine with a rental too.
